AP European History Classes at Knovva Academy

Knovva Academy's AP European History course examines the continental history from 1450 to the present day. Students will utilize similar methods to that of historians by analyzing primary and secondary sources and developing historical arguments to discover European political institutions' development, culture, economy, and society. This AP course at our online education center will expose students to the AP European History exam requirements and will teach skills necessary for optimal performance.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Analyze and interpret historical evidence
  • Think critically about historical events in Europe
  • Express debate topics and arguments in writing
  • Develop an essay based on historical text

    Course Outcomes

    Students will leave this course with:

  • A document-based essay, utilizing approximately seven documents, that will require students to develop a thesis and use the documents to support their thesis
  • A long-form essay based on a prompt, which will require students to use historical evidence from the course to demonstrate their understanding of complexities of European history
  • Knowledge on how to conduct a primary source document and image analyses
  • A graphic organizer of themes linked to specific time frames in European History
  • Discussion threads in response to one other related topics
  • An understand of argumentation and refutation
  • Preparation for TOEFL and other standardized tests
  • Satisfied criteria for Knovva Academic Standards, based on IB, PISA, Cambridge, and Common Core standards
  • A Certificate of Completion from Knovva Academy and corresponding transcript

Beth attended New York University as an undergraduate and then achieved a Master’s in Teaching with a concentration in Secondary Education from the NYU Graduate School of Education.
